mated shrimp

Finally got to see the mated shrimp together and took a few pics. The mini stars are either hiding more now that the shrimp are in the tank or their numbers have been significantly decreased.

male harlequin shrimp

those are very nice. if you need a starter culture of larger mini brittle stars, i have plenty. mine can get up to 2 inch reach across, have 5 dark two tone striped arms and a deep redish brown body shell. are those like you have? Im bringing some for moliken next meeting. need some too?

Ken, the ones in my tank have a light creamy color and only reach about an inch in size, but thanks anyway.

im not sure that harlequins eat brittle stars, mine never did.

I’m confused. Weren’t you the one who said you grew star fish in a sump or separate tank and would feed there legs to the shrimp?

I thought he said those were sandsifters, but I may be mistaken.

yes, that was me, but they were sandsifter stars astropectin sp., not brittles.
