Meeting details for Moday May 17th @ William Penn High School

Thought i would get a head start on this one since we have most of the details!

As i mentioned in the previous thread we will have Dr. Mac of Pacific East Aquaculture speaking for us as well as cordinating the group buy for this month! Im going to do my best to get back to the DIY technique and have a good one ready to go! Im also hoping to have the new ATO’s on hand and maybe we will have time for a quick demo! Since the chinese was VERY convienent for me and was destroyed within 5 minutes we will do it again next month! We have several nice raffles for next month. I just got a package from TB Aquatics today that will be the Golden Ticket item next month! It will be a dual media reactor(carbon and GFO) which will include everything you need to get started even a full pound of GFO! Thank you Brian at TB Aquatics! Also, we have our former VP taking care of our frag raffle this month! Im simply going to cut and paste a pm i got from him regarding the details but suffice to say we should have some really unusual frags next month!

Hey, for the frag pack... I can get large frags of "German Blue Montipora" and "Idaho Grape Montipora" if you are interested in them. The catch is the guy that has them grows them under natural sunlight. If they are kept under artifical lights they will color up, but they arent that impressive right now. I was thinking if you wanted I could include those, and if they colored up in time you could put them in the raffle, or otherwise hold on them. Up to you.

I already picked up a frag of these at the local open house:

I am also working on getting a frag of these for the pack:

They are a small blue clove that will spawn in tanks if they get big enough.

Also going to pick up a few more frags. All in all, I’m probably going to have 5-6 frags plus the browned out sps if you want them.

wow sweet, im diggin those frags, especially the caps…been eyeing those up on the web…who cares if they are brown, they are beautiful when they color up. sweet gig, looking forward to it!

ohh yea cant wait to buy some stuff from dr. mac…lots of coral buying in the month of may. we got ECA, TFB, dr. mac, DVRC frag swap later on…wow fun filled month with and awesome meeting in between and chinese food GolfC.

Sounds good, ill be there ready to drop another 20 on the raffles…

Hey everyone. I’m the one shipping the frags up to ya for the meeting. Thought I would update the list:

German Blue Montipora Digi
Blue Ridge Coral - Heiliopora
Green Hulk Cloves
Small Blue Cloves
Carribean Zoanthids

Also Probably -
Idaho Grape Cap
Green Merulinia
Another frag or three…

sweet…icy your awesome!!

doh! i guess it would have been nice to say who they were from!! ;D

And for anyone that has never had the honor/privilege of meeting Icy (and Keleigh) he (they) was an incredidbly active member of the club before moving to Florida. The nice part is he knows his stuff and you can be certain he will only send the nicest healthiest corals he can get his hands on.

Thanks Bellamy!!

+1 well said!

Ok picked up one of the frags that I was planning on including today on the way home from work. Its a Montipora capitata (aka rice coral, this is a branching monti). The base color is a light green, with purple polyps. I’ll post pics later, but it looks something like the 3rd coral on this page:

lot of unusual pieces!! cant wait!!

sheeeeeyeett. out of town for that great sounding meeting.

wow…hope my lucky streak extends into THIS meeting…really nice stuff

i have horrible news for everyone. unfortunately the frags that Bellamy shipped did not make it and they will not be available for raffle next month but there is good news. coincidentally, i happen to have the exact same corals that he was going to ship and i should be able to grow them out and have them fragged for raffle by late fall! ;D

thanks again Bellamy! you da man! tell Kaleigh i said hi!

There are a few different colors that these turn under different lights. Blue Ridge Coral Green Merulina - This is a plating coral that seems to be LPS.
