Members tank updates

Thought it might be a good idea to have members give updates on how their tanks are coming along. You know, like how long your tank has been running and problems,if any you may be experiencing with it at this time.
How happy you are with the way your tank looks and the pleasure you get from it every time you look at it. Please feel free to upload a pic of your tank. I know that I for one would really like to see a pic of everyones tank or tanks.

I could write a novel, (gordonious) length response to this one! LMAO! lot going on, learning a lot, feel like i’m figuring it out… what a world of difference between a FO system, and a mixed reef!! I’ve had problems, and solutions, and lots of growth, and healthy fish… I’m very happy, not discouraged at all this time around (7 months now) and getting this brown algae kicked finally (thats been a 3 month plus battle) i’ll take some pics later, i got a new lens!!

Great John, what kind is the new lens?

Got a couple quick pics, still playing with the lens and figuring out its best shots for the tank! its a Sigma 50mm 1.4 ex dg, its super fast, excellent pictures with available light… its not really great for macro shots, its more of a portrait type lens if i had to nutshell it, but with its clarity, and my 15 megapixels i can crop in pretty big, heres a shot from tonight, i need an underwater 18% grey card so i can get the custom white balance perfect so those hippo blues come out accurate, ISO set pretty high, 800… to catch the fast tangs, but still get the depth.
i’ll be posting more, i’m sure… Ken, your not the only poet round here.

of focus.

Wow! Nice shot John! That’s freaking amazing that you can see the rock and coral and the fish are not a blur! Very nice. I really want to get a nice camera soon.

What type of cloves are those in the front? Have another image of them. Cloves are one of my favorites.

Houndsbay John, still have those cloves from the raffle several meetings ago?

This must be the John John and Jon show :P

Thanks! and the cloves i got from Rich in a trade, they’re very cool, green center with orange stripes on the polyps. can’t get a good pic, the spot i dropped them for now has rearward flow, can’t see the center of the polyps. i’ll get a pic when i move them, seems like they’d like a little less flow.

Nice pic saltcreep

Yes Jon, I still have the cloves from the raffle and they are doing great.

And who let that BILL guy in here!!! LOL

Houndsbay John surround that sucker with more rocks, so they can grow out. I really want a frag of them.

saltcreep John likely clones of the ones I have which I sold him some polyps of many months ago. Good to know if I ever lose mine the diversity of those beautiful polyps won’t be lost. They are certainly one of my favorites.

Nice saltcreep!!!

I think so (EV-180)

Severely lacking but is “next next” focus area

Lighting?
Still a great light (72" Current USA 3HQI+8T5+24Leds) but needs work and is a behemoth in my canopy!

Great update mikwar, tank and corals are looking really good. And the pics coming across just fine. Is the last pic a chalice coral? I think I won a frag like that at the last meeting.

Thanks! Yep - its a chalice, growing well, that outer ring is recent growth. Got it from East Coast Aquatics some time late last year. I am becoming a true chalice fan these days.

Great shots, beautiful tank mikwar…and i’m with you on the chalice fans.

Fixed the pics in batch2 - sorry for the Duplicate

Just a hippo shot.

WOW, ok, we can no longer consider a photo contest and if we do we should just hand the price over to John(saltcreep) right away.

Beautiful show man! Very nice.

Now hold on a minute!!!

I’m dealing with dinoflagelates and a bit of cyano still but over this winter I’ll have more time to square it all up. That said here are some new pics I took today, I need a macro lens seriously.
