Ive set up a 30gal and put mineral mud in the fug area…I have a layer of sand on top of it but still when i turn my pumps on it mad a cloudy mess in the display tank…How do I remedy this?
Unfortunately that is normal for miracle mud. It will settle down . Think the package says let it for a couple hours before restarting the pump.
I let it settle but when i restarted…back to the brown cloud…tried siphoning the settled dust out it just made more cloud as well
Did you use a plate to put on top of it and slowly add water to it. I used that method and had no problems at all with my mud. You can also try and lightly stir it to get the air pockets out of the mud and that should reduce how much is trying to run off.
I didn’t use a plate just let it fill normal through the baffles…I really dont want to but i think i may have to empty and refill.
That mud always sounded like a mess… do you have any extra filters to run temporarily? some old hang-ons? maybe double up two filters socks?
i have and emperor 200 and a 400 Ill have to grab some filter but it may just be what i need
I’ve never used the stuff, but i’ve seen the residue stuck all over used equipment that i bought… Did it stick all over your glass, plumbing, pumps also?

btw is this your 1st go with MM, or something new?
add some more liquid bacteria. the sooner the mud gets good and colonized, the sooner it sticks together and stops blowing around.

Yea its been a few days with the HOB filter and it cleared up…I have before and after pics but they are too large in file size to upload…Thx for suggestions everyone.
This is my first time having a mud fug…I did a bit of reading and people have had success with it so i thought id try it in this nano setup…Hoping to have a sps dominant tank…so far so good.
BTW sorry for the gap in between replies…Been slacking a bit in the homework department and keeping up with family issue…All good now YahoO
