I’m moving in a week or so I have a 20gal long what is the best way to move it? I’m moving across the street from where the tank is now.
5 galloon buckets. Empty contents from tank in t buckets, drain water from tank in to said buckets. Seperate fish, rock, sand, and corals as possible.
Carry tank, stand and equipment across the street and set up where you want it.
Carry buckets across the street, sand, rock, fish, coral in order and transfer items to tank.
Open a beer and relax.
Or you can take this opportunity to by a nice 300g set-up and use the existing tank as a nice sump.
If your rock work is stable, just drain half way, get another person and just carry it over. It won’t be that heavy. I moved my old 12g cube like this, not a single animal removed and all the original water replaced.
Ok cool . This will be my first time moving a live tank just wanted to make shore there was odd to do that’s all thank u, il let u know how the move whent
biggest thing is be prepared for the worse case and hope for the best.
I would have a tote big enough to hold the rock and inhabitants overnight as worse case.
Having a week to prep you could add a HOB filter on the tank or fuge and have a biological ready filter you can put on your tote right away and give yourself as much time as you need to setup again.
If your sandbed is more than a couple inches deep or not vacuumed regularly you may stir up some sludge or even sulfur dioxide.
