Murphy's Flippin Law????

I walked in from work tonite to a suprize in the family room.
Damn Murphy and his whatever can happen.
My 75 RR has a 30 gal sump, and seems most of it is on the family room carpet!!!
I have just moved all the rock and critters into a couple of buckets with heaters and power heads.
I now have to take everything down, get the carpet out and fix the friggin floor.
LESSON LEARNED FROM THIS.

  1. Make some sort of water proof liner, incorporate into stand structure to hold any over flow. (I’m pretty handy cabinet maker) so we’ll see.
2.Put some sort of big mesh screen over the drain 1 1/4 i believe it is.

Problem seems to be that after 16 months, 1 of the P.J Cardinals wanted to jump ship. He got into the drain section, got sucked in and clogged the drain.
Eventually, pressure dumped him in the sump and he didn’t do well on the ride.
SWMBO is not real happy with me right now. ???
I hope the swap goes well, and i will truly miss the fun…Hope i don’t kill everything in the meantime.

Damn it, F’n Murphy. Hope everything will come out alright.

Ouch, I flooded my old apartment numerous times…I ended up having to break the tank down when a floor joyce began to fail…Learned the hard way to always have extra volume in your sump, and to have numerous fail safes in place.

I hear ya, I do ok with the space in the sump etc…
aside from putting screen or something on the drain…what to do?
This is a 75 RR with drain and returned drilled into the little corner section of the bottom.
So far so good, I’m replacing friggin sub floor today. Still not sure if the tank is gonna be allowed back in the family room. At least the critters seem to be ok, I had a 30 gal that i sat up in the basement to hold everybody for the short term…
Damn, still really bummed I missed the swap… but we’ll figure it out i guess.

If I’m understanding you right, it sounds like you need an overflow strainer.
