Yeap, hopefully in a few days they’ll be happier. They’ve stayed put so far.

Thats great hope for the best for ya. :BEER

Ours from Dr. Macs was kind of closed for a couple days before it came out all the way.

Thanks great to know! My gold maxima looks happy as a clam can be so maybe they just need to hang out with him.

best of luck!!

Sweet I still don’t have any torch yet. I’m jealous. It’s on my shopping list, but currently my budget is the three pennies I have in my pocket, so I suppose I’ll have to wait for my budge to increase, lol.

I love the torch. That’s the one coral I want that I haven’t gotten yet (ok - that one and abou 100 others) I have the money put aside for it, I just can’t find the bright green one I am looking for. All can seem t find locally is the poop brown ones.

That feller was at Dr. Macs and there were some similarly (with slight variations) colored ones there…very nice. I got an awesome deal on that guy.

Ian, is it true that you need to use MH lights to keep clams?

No sir. T5s w/ individual reflectors should allow you to keep pretty much anything, possibly even towards the bottom of the tank.

Crocea and Maximas are the higher light demanding clams and I believe are recommended to use either T5s or MHs, but placing the clams high up you can will allow your clams to get more intensity from the lights (i.e. you can use weaker lights if the clams are higher in the water column).

I’m certainly no clam expert Chris&Barb here on this forum has a LOT more experience and knowledge as well as the folks over at RAF (he frequents there more often) reefaquariumforum.com

Long story short, I’m running T5s and keeping my clams at the bottom of the tank. I believe Ellen (Ento_reefer) is doing the same.

Yep. As long as you have single reflectors and enough bulbs the clams do great!

Yours look like they are going to be beautiful once they settle in and open up. I got my blue maxima from Dr. Macs also and it took a day or two really open wide.

A few new pics of the new clams. Some of them make the tank look horrible, but I swear its just cause the angles are spots I can’t (or don’t often) clean!
