New bulbs, quick?

well i figured lets get some new bulbs and see if i can get less browning and better growth… been 4 months with stock lights

Was thinking running a 6.7k/10k 50/50 and a 460nm/420nm 50/50 actinic bulb

is that good,

not sure what the 6.7 is for, good for growth?

anyone, i thought someone posted here?

6500K is good for growth - that’s what grow lights in nurseries are.

Generally we run 6500 on our fuge to grow macro algae. I don’t particularly like them on the display tank as they appear too yellow to me.

You’re running Power Compacts correct? I’d personally run 1 10K and 1 actinic (460).

I’d run the 10K in the back socket and the actinic in the front to get a slightly bluer appearance. (Yes it makes a difference).

i would go with a blue(460nm) bulb. they give good coloration but have much better par output than a 420nm. then i would go with a 10k/460 50/50 bulb. the 460 bulb will give u slightly less, but not much, par output than a 10k will. if u can find a 6700k/460nm bulb get that. 6700k bulbs are PURE white, daylight bulbs. they ahve the best par output of anybulb. the reason u dont see them used much on reeftanks is because they tend to yellow out the tank. but with 3 other blues u wont have to worry about that.

imo junk the pcs and get t5s

Hell ya i wanna junk the pc… i got ripped… paed 285 … i could have gotten t-5 for 20 bucks more…

wait till xmas lol…

ok … ordering bulbs, i cant find a 6.7/460 so ima go witha 10k and 460

its gonna be blue! but thats great for color.

what about a 10k then 50/50 10k/460

I don’t think it’ll be too blue. Should be mainly white light with a hint of blue undertones.

That would be very blue.
