As a fairly new reefer, I found this magazine to be very informative. Oh yeah, the corals presented throughout the magazine are gorgeous. Pages 44 to 47 are the goal for my tank!! Throughout the mag they provide specific properties and conditions for the water. Does anybody test for dHK? The PAR information is a great compliment to the presentation we had at the meeting.

Unfortunately the links on the site are not as great as the magazine itself.

Do you mean dKH? That is a measurement of alkalinity (degrees of carbonate hardness). This typically drops faster then Calcium and Mg and any of the three shouldn’t be tampered with alone with out testing the others.

There are some sweet anemone videos from that link. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for sharing! ::thumbsup::

and yes DKH… I test it at least once a week. Its my parameter that requires the most babysitting, and it will drop to unacceptable levels if it gets ignored for over a week. Before i had that much coral/coral growth it didn’t change that much.

My tank drops 2dKH in a day with out dosing. Crappy thing is you can safely raise it by 1dKH a day, so when my reactors go off line kind of leaves me in a sticky situation. That is in my 120gallon low nutrient SPS dominant system. In my softy system I probably lose about 1dKH per 2-3 weeks, but I don’t watch it as carefully.

jon, what are you dosing? and to my way of thinking, a 2 dKh drop from 9-7 is much less serious than one from 7.5-5.5. so doesn’t it make sense to have a dKh above 9?
how ya doin, buddy? email sent.

Did you send me an e-mail? Didn’t come through. Have to run out the door now, but I’ll explain in my blog post, vs. typing twice. Let you know when done and you can make fun of/help me with my grammar.
