You would need to dim it for a little tank like that. But the fixtures will work on most any tank. I am using one over a 40
I’m very skeptical about new technology, especially when the deal sounds so good. example, i made the huge mistake of buying a HTC thunderbolt when it first came out, five phones and less than a year later verdict_in, i forced verizon to give me a droid. Not that I don’t trust the judgement of anyone here, but I’d be very interested to see how corals respond to these. That being said, I’m DEFINITELY going to be following closely. $360 (I’d have to buy two fixtures) for a complete setup definitely beats the $300 in parts I’d be paying just to put it together myself. Any pics of tanks or corals under these lights? Any reviews from someone who’s purchased one already?
For good color and growth LEDs need royal blue, uv, for sure but to be certain I would get a couple whites, a couple green reds and even the orange. Then your corals will have to adjust by exchanging zoox algae. And they could look real bad. I think I’m going to setup a small tank led only and test the various colors. If you look at a spectrum chart for mh and flour. Lighting you can match that with the LEDs spectrum to get a good starting point.

I have a HTC Thunderbolt and love it. I found the tricks to save some battery life. I am on my second thunderbolt because the speaker would not work but then found out it was a app that was turning it off. I want to upgrade but if I do it will get rid of my unlimited data package
Alex if you go on dvrc there are guys using the old style 2w led for about a year and sps look great I have sold 36 of these lights with no unhappy ppl. There are reviews on dvrc from ppl that. Bought these lights
Would these be good for a 180? How many of would I need for sps?
I had two of this type light(120W w/55 3W LED’s) over my 180, and think three would be about right. Difference was, I didn’t have dimmers on mine and they were built using Bridgelux LED’s. Here’s a FTS of the 180 with two:
They were mounted in the lid, and were about 5" off the water surface.
Beach what color leds do you have

I don’t have these fixtures (pictured) any more, but they were a mix of 35 white and 20 blue(450nm), 120[sup]o[/sup] lenses(no optics). Better growth and PE than with the MH/PC fixture I replaced.
My current fixtures are a mix of 24 12,000K white and 24 Royal Blue 455nm with a blend of 90[sup]o[/sup]/60[sup]o[/sup] optics.
the fixtures I sell have 35 royal blue and 20 14000k white and are dimmable
I have 2 ppl with 180 gal tanks they used three fixtures and have no dark spots
They seem good. My question is where is the 420 spectrum going to come from. I thought corals need that. None of the premade LEDs use them to my knowledge. I wouldn’t mind trying one of these out but would add the missing spectrums 420 at the least
