New Lights

I am looking to upgrade my lights but have limited space since i have a 72g corner. I am thinking retro fit kit in the canopy with space of 24"x12"? and heat will be an issue?
or maybe

ICECAP pendant 15"x8" // 250W and (10k,14k,20k?)and cutting a hole on the top of the canopy.

Any thoughts

if you removed canopy and suspended lights from cieling you could get a bigger footprint to work with. then you could go t5. or dual metal halides

If I am not mistaken you should be able to fit a 36" light across the widest point. You just have to finagle leg placement. This would enable you to use a 4 or 6 bar T5.

damn, so thats how you spell finagle…

If I do metal halide what is the verdict on bulb 10k,14k,20k

I use 14k on my nano. That is the best color I’ve seen. If you use 10k you will have better growth, but not as cool looking coral.

Say, have you checked at DPA in the consignment section? I think they still have a halide/ACT PC ficture for sale that a member of the club used on her 55 corner tank. It worked great for her. just sitting there looking for a home. fixture, remote ballast and bulbs. plug and play if you think it fits. She had to take down the tank for a move. should be in good shape.

Thanks for the tip- i will check it out

In fact that light at DPA also includes the Coralife dual (I think) timer/powerstrip.
