The second link refers to 1 type of tunicate that was introduced to any area where it was not native. It replaced the native species. I would not worry about the one you have, it looks cool.
Besides if it multiplies into the thousands you can always sell them on ebay as a rare tunicate filter feeders that rarely breed. $200 each What?.. everybody’s doing it
Most likely a sponge. Did it show up when you started skimming less perhaps? Or when a certain fish disapeared? Or when the rock was placed in a fishless tank.
Just curious what sort of plankton/coral foods are you feeding?

Jon, we use Kent phyto plex, Reef Plus. think thats it. and I believe the rest of the quistions are gonna be no, but didnt really pay attention when it first showed up.
