New T.v show...

Hey guys,
Just wanted to share that there is a new show on tonight called the “Great Barrier Reef” on animal planet. I have bee watching it for 10mins and just memorized by all the wildlife, corals etc… Check it out, pretty cool.
Now Im itchin for the meetings to start up! ::rofl::

Yeah I’ve been watching it myself. While some of the footage has been recycled, I’m still enjoying it. My wife not so much - apparently when they were showing the corals fighting at night I wasn’t suppose to color-commentate and tell her ahead of time the galaxia was going to win.

Thanks for sharing Lynchie. I will have to remember that if I go to visit any of my friends or relatives that have that channel.

Way to be the know it all and ruin the ending Craig. I am picturing a cartoon mesh between Craig and the Simpsons character Professor Frink

“Well actually, it should be obvious to even the most dim-witted individual that the Galaxea fascicularis with far a superior concentration of nematocysts will beat out the Sarcophyton elegans. Mm-hey.”

That was some great footage they had!

I was hoping my reef buddies were watching it also ::thumbsup::

I really loved the time lapse of the corals growing. how cool!

I also watched it and was pretty good show. I didn’t like the poor little turtles getting eaten :frowning: but that’s nature

poor fellas :-(" if they weren’t so cute and helpless verdict_in

Bill i thought you’d be complaining about the lack of clam footage… i thought i saw a peek of a couple in the background ::thinking:: are there clams there?

I felt worse for the turtles that got flipped over on the rocks and cooked.

That’s how I felt too! You are so compelled to wanna help them out since there flippers just are not cutting it, then was mad that the camera crew would not help (even tho I kno we should not interfere with nature) but then my brain actually started working and realized they most likely set up free standing video recorders and left them there for a while to get the fottage! Cant you see it now “action… , dig that hole deeper think about the children!,” ::rofl::

Salt creep- I did see one huge clam in the show, they did not introduce it or anything like that. Just in a wide angle shot looking out into the reef rock scape and corals. I think it was purple.

I personally loved how they showed the corals glowing in the moon light, I had just recently added lunar lights to my set up and must say I truly enjoy the fluorescent colors at night.
One thing I was impressed about was when they showed the corals in direct sunlight out of the water because of low tide. I had no clue that they keep up to a gallon of slime stored for situations such as that. Pretty impressive.

Did anyone see the creepy snail looking creature that ate the goat fish?!?!

I forgot the first showing, but caught the repeat right after. i set my DVR to record the next showing on thursday night, 9/13 according to verizon. then i can make a DVD if i want too. edit out the commercials.

Looky who’s Mr. latest technology now … ::rofl::

I guess the switchover from carrier pigeon to fiber optic went smoothly… >LOCO<

That was kinda awesome!!

I agree :-)lol! Just not the way I would wanna go out lol.
Impressive how the parrot fish used his spit web to hide itself from the crazy monster snail (Does anyone know what the actual name is) but then just gets eat by the shark. What a way to go out lol

that, i had never heard of. it was cool, woulda been better if it worked on the sharks verdict_in

I thought the mucus sack was to protect it from the sharks by preventing it’s smell from escaping, and the snail ate it anyway.

I’ve seen that parrot fish snot sack on some older reef programs too. kinda like the cone of silence, or smell or something. but if they fill it with some swamp gas bubbles, they float to the top and get eaten.

Yeah, John, i like the new technology. getting used to the fios fiber. the free DVR in the set top box works good. I don’t know what the memory is but ive recorded many hours of programs and series and only 20% full. but i also have a DVD recorder box i bought last year. so i can make DVD hard copies from a program. or DVR the program and make a DVD hard copy from the TV outputs when i play it back. I dont have the Tv connected to the puter to make a DVD there. but this works.
