Well welcome!!!
To the club and to the hobby. You’re fortunate enough to have found to self-proclaimed preeminent source of grand salt water knowledge right here!!! ;D
OK so we may not know it all, but we know a lot, and there are a lot of us that have been around for a while and have already made all of the mistakes.
Post up and start asking quesitons. You can use the search function in the upper right hand corner to see if your quesitons has already been asked and answered, but will warn you to pay attention to the thread dates of what you find. This hobby moves and evolves very quickly and advice provided just a few eyars ago may no longer be up to date or the best advice available today.
Welcome -
Glad to see you have some long term hobby experience (even if it is with freshies :))
Getting a new set up is the most exciting and frustrating part IMO. If you have any questions or anything, don’t hesitate to ask.
:Welcome) to DRC! you’re in the right section and no problem at all. Ask away, as Craig said, you can start a new thread in this section with all your questions. We’re here to help. Most of us here are local hobbyist and most of us have been in this madness for a long time.
Advice we give may not be works for others, but its on experience that we’ve been through and what we read. Most of us will suggest to you is to read up and do research is the best way to learn about this hobby. I’m sure you’ve done that when you do fresh water keeping as well.
Also, just to let you know you are welcome to join our club as well. We have perks and benefits that will help you along with your hobby. If you’re interested please let me know.
Again, welcome to DRC!
Thanks for the welcome
:Welcome)
What are your plans for the 150? Fish only? Reef? Softies, LPS, SPS?

Not sure yet. I need to get it all picked up and set up and see what lives. Then see what the equipment can support. I dont know much about light requirements and things just yet. I know it comes with Sun PAQ 10000k Daylight (2- 34’’ Tubes) also Sun PaQ 420 mm Actinic (2 - 34") so Ill need to research
Welcome! Only dumb question is the one you don’t ask!
Thanks. I’m just reading all I can right now. Going to tear it down at the sellers house next weekend and set it up at mine. Trying to figure out the best way to keep it all alive
That’s easy. You need to keep as much of the old water as poss. You also need as many water containers, nets, hose, pump to pump water from the tank and several friends. I just did this for another member with a 225. It had a large stingray along with several other fish. All are alive and doing well. I would recommend you take a trailer with you as it will make things a lot easier. Trash cans (new) help to hold the water. Then use tie down straps to hold them down in the trailer
Yeah the water thing is where I’m confused. I’ve seen both keep as much water as possible and others say not needed. So I’m trying to figure that out. That and the lots of friends thing. I picked the weekend I’m on vacation but most of my “helpers” are working lol.
Where do you live and where is the new tank? I might be able to lend a hand or 2.The main reason to keep the water is so that the tank doesn’t cycle again. Which if you don’t prepare for could kill the live stock. However you don’t need to keep all of it but most is helpful.i have 2 containers that would hold almost all of that water.
I might be available to help with the move. Just let me know when and where.
That’s nice of you guys. I should be ok with help. If not I would only need help getting it in the trailer. I should be ok when I get it home. It’s in Delmar so If your close and can help that’s great if it’s too far I understand
We both live in dover.if you don’t need help your welcome to use my container If you need it.

Thanks I might take you up on that. Ill let you know
Beadlocked, it is my understanding that very little nitrifying bacteria actually lives in the water column. If you match the ph/salinity/temp to the old water, you should have no cycle, right?
If you can keep the rock from dying during the move that is.
I just did that on my tank :-/ hope I didn’t make a mistake!
Correct. Water column doesn’t contain much nitrifying bacteria, but it does have some from what I read. If you can keep the rock and sand from drying or dying it will help with continue cycling of the tank and all you have to do is just add NSW like you said you did. And I believe what you did is correct and I don’t think you will see anything die or die off. Keep us posted.
I agree but I like to keep all the possibly of any problems as low as possible
Just remember if you don’t keep the tank water you better have enough ro water waiting for new salt mix.
