Newest addition pics: Fruitloop zoas and Psychedelic Mandarin

Here are some of the coolest, in my opinion, and newest additions to our tank.

First we have a Jason Fox fruitloop zoa, I absolutely had to have it, even though it was lots of $$$

Then, we have the one thing we have worked towards since the beginning, a psychedelic mandarin! He’s eating GREAT and everything about it is intense; the colors, the way he stares so intently at stuff, the way he “hunts,” everything. One of my favorites, for good reason.

Don’t know if it’s male or female, apparently there’s a difference in the fin. I can’t tell. But it’s definitely becoming less and less shy, spending more time away from the shadows and searching all corners of the tank.

::thumbsup:: cool stuff, that mandarin looks great!

Im getting hooked on the zoas myself, have any blue ones?

We want to get blue ones ourselves. We have flying saucers that are kind of blue, but not right now because they’re still small. There’s radioactive dragoneyes in the same picture as the fruitloops, and we also have whammin’ watermelons and purple puddles (the orange and green/yellow variation).

Hopefully sometime soon im going to get some of the blue ones then some red ones i saw a while back. northern lights aquacultur had some blue galaxy ones i liked as well, wonder if thier still available??

Cool pics

I went to check out their website, and is there any reason why the page requires log-in information just to view their corals, or anything for that matter?

Yea i got the same thing, tried e mailing thier site and the e mail was returned “mailer demon”

Uh, weird…

Very nice zoas and pics of your mandarin. That is a male, you can tell by the high dorsal fin on the top. The females don’t have their dorsal fin that high.

Good to know, Hounds!! The LFS said that they thought it was a male, and then we go online and see ridiculously tall dorsal fins on males, and we were unsure. Thanks for clearing it up for us!!

His partner recently past. So, I’m not sure what is going on with the business. However, he does jump on here all the time (zona322). I’m sure he’ll reply when he see this thread.

I would say you have a male blue mandarin… Psychedelic mandarins are the green with the psychedelic spots.

Is that a ORA mandarin? He looks the same as the blue ora mandarin I just got from the last group buy at DPA. Ora tends to have more orange in the body then the wild caught of the same kind.

We’re not 100% sure what it is, I think it looks more like a splendidus picturatus, the LFS said that they didn’t know and gave us a discount on it because they couldn’t confirm exactly what it was. We jumped on it because of the solid orange/red tail, and because it looks damn close to all of the ORA mandarin pictures we’ve seen. Hoping it is, but it wasn’t sold that way.

Here is a picture of mine to compare if it helps. Mine is a Blue ORA mandarin.
