Thoughts on niger triggers? I have read that they are not reef safe but then I see a lot of tanks that have them. So my question is are they or are they not reef safe?
Be very causious they will eat snails, shrimp, hermits and they get big

+1 But I love the one I had. It didn’t bother anything at all in my tank. I did have snail in my tank and it didn’t bother it either. I think the snail was too fast for him. LOL
Blue throat, crosshatch are considered “reefsafeish”. Niger is “with caution”
Google reef safe trigger, lots of results. Heres 1:

I dont think I saw a trigger yet that is reef safe, thought they all said with caution at a minimum, most just say no.
I have had a mix of LPS/Sps in my tank. I’ve had a Niger trigger for about a year now. No issues. No issues with snails/hermits as of yet. I havent tried any shrimp/crabs though. They typically say they’re not reef safe because they’ll possibly eat shrimp/crabs. Never had him pick on any of the coral.
