I have to post the pictures. (Is photo bucket the only site I can use. I have google online too.)
I have the ASM G2 and new sump installed. Yes. That thing is so powerful. I just sat and watched it pull things in so quickly. It was amazing.
I have 2 clowns now. I want another fish. I think my tank is stable enough for it. But It is 55 gallon so I need something that will grow. Any ideas. I am not in a rush. I just want to get a game plan going.
Taking it slow. I think I am going by DPA (those guys are like crack) to get some invertebrates.
a coral beauty would work too…the grammas are awesome…I have one of each and they’re both pretty dosile…after your systems been up about a year, and you have plenty of copepods, go for a mandarin goby(dragonet) they’re awesome too…the coolest fish I ever had…
Be very careful with the angels. Most of the smaller pygmy angels(genus Cetropyge) come with the caution that they may, and most often do, nip at corals. Of course this can be compensated by over feeding which can be compensated by a Nitrate reactor, frequent water changes, over skimming, or a massive refugium… At that point I ask how much did that angelfish really cost?
Many of the other angel’s will have the same story, or have trouble adapting to captivity, or come with a high price tag. Point being an angelfish would be cool, colorful, and most likely out in the open often, but as with anything do your research first and make sure it is a fit for you, the environment you have created with in your tank walls, and the future plans you have for the tank.
Have you looked into doing a group of Cardinalfish? How about a hardy bannerfish such as a Hiochus diphretues or some sort of healthy reef safe Butterfly fish. A dottyback may be cool as well, but many eat shrimp.
Scott Michael’s books are probably the best source for information especially if you want to just flip through a pocket guide to get some ideas and quickly see if they are aquarium or reef safe. Could also try flipping through some of the bigger online stores for fish, but I wouldn’t even take the time to read there comments as they will try to sell you anything. Just find something you think looks cool and figure out what it’s niche is in a reputable source such as wetwebmedia.com or Michael’s books.
Keep us updated with your ideas and beware of impulse buying. I’ve bought subtropical fish in the past on impulse not realizing they wouldn’t live in the temps I kept my tank at under the advice of what I used to think was a reputable LFS.
im not sure why i didnt suggest this before, but i LOVE my swallowtail angel. also, this is probably as reef safe as you can get with an angel. PA has them often. the only caution would be its size. i think it would be fine in a 55g but it would probably be best if it was your only medium-large fish

I just got a pokerstar from TPP for $30… you might want to check if they have them in stock still.[/quote]
Not sure when ravensfan531 went, but if you want an update ask Andy as he was there two days ago. Also might want to check with an LFS that carries ORA and see if you can get Monti pieces ordered from them. The only thing I have activly growing I would exactly call colorfull.

I was there last thursday (2/12) and they had 9 of them and other montis also.
Pics? How bright? Some of the oranges I’ve seen have that dull rust color, which I may or may not mind as I don’t have it now, but I’m thinking something that pops a bit more with color.
