October Meeting Algae Scrubber build

Good news everyone!! The algae scrubber build that was scheduled for last May’s meeting is happening at this months meeting!!! PoM

There are 14 available and will be offered to premium members first! If/when they are not all spoken for then they will be offered to non premium members for $20 (or you can pay your dues and become a premium member).

Sorry icecool. I some how erased the message in this box. Trying to do to many things at one time I guess! But I do have you confirmed and someone would be more than happy to sign you up for membership!!

It looks like these are going to be the floating kind of algae scrubber.

Anybody got any spare sand they would be willing to donate to this? I’d like to coat the inside of the boxes with something ruff for the algae to grow on and crushed coral didn’t stick well.

So… bad news about the scrubbers. The one I built and has been running for 3 days doesn’t have any algea. I think the problem may be the growth medium or it just may need more time for algae to grow. I can still give a talk or we can build the boxes and see how it goes. Thoughts?

Hey bryant, I agree, give it a run and see how it goes, already have the build items so may as well. Wil give everyone the opportunity to tweak their own in different ways.
