I currently have a 4bulb t5ho unit for my 75 gallon tank. Some say it’s good enough other don’t think so. Has anyone had this and if so did you keep the plastic cover on over the bulbs, do they make aftermarket parts so each bulb has an individual reflector. And what’s the best bulb setup for corals/growth and in general.

I used a 6 bulb fixture years ago over a 92. I would think that the 4 bulb over a 75 would be enough for LPS and SPS as long as the SPS is placed higher in the tank.
The plastic shield is just a splash guard, doesn’t do too much to hinder par.
Yea I think I’m doing OK. Just trying to get a opinion as to what bulb combo to use. Currently have 2 red sea reef spec bulbs 1 coral plus bulb and I believe another actinic bulb. Was gonna change our one of them to get maybe a purple plus

I have 4 T5HO over my 75 right now. I also have 2x250MH in there that I have run for streches to see if growth is improved, or if I want to change things up. I dont notice any difference in growth rates.
My tank is pretty much all LPS and softies and they grow well. my few SPS grow pretty slowly, but that probably has more to do with my lack of time to keep my water chemistry perfect.
As you get playing with bulb combinations, don’t forget to arrange them differently in the fixture. Your eye will perceive light differently depending on the wavelength it’s looking through. So a 10K white bulb in the front will give you a different appearance than if the same bulb was placed in positions 2,3, or 4 in the array.

I have this for sale if you want more light. Will use your t5 bulbs. Will need new mh bulbs but it does all work. I don’t have the power cord for the moon lights but everything important works. 75$
