Apparently, some members do not agree with ME asking a sponsor or vendor about ordering issues on our public board. If a member does not agree with what is being said in a post, then that member should do so publicly in the thread, not by sending PMs to the exec board. If you have an opinion, then let it be heard, not whispered. And when a post is determined to be inappropriate, it should be done so in public with an explanation.
But obviously, by removing the thread that I started without an explanation, the members who have the issues don’t know what happened. I believe that members should be able to decide for themselves, whether or not a vendor, especially one that is a sponsor to OUR club is dependable, reliable and has positive customer service.
How would you feel right now, if you were a member who had ordering issues?
Speaking out and wanting answers is something we all have a privilege to do.
If my thread has broken any posting requirements or regulations, then it should have been addressed as so.
With this being said, please remove me from MOD status. I would prefer to remain in the dark, like everyone else.
I know different forums have different rules on vendor/sponsor comments. For some no bashing (not saying what John did was bashing) is allowed for other there is a seperate review forum which only members have access to were customers are free to place their reviews positive or negative. Sooner or later a trend will be seen with a vendor and a person can make an informed decision as to where they want to spend their money. If an issue is had with a vendor I think it should first be done privately and then if there is no resolution it should be done publiclly as it holds them accountable. I agree that reviews are helpful positive and negative you certianly are allowed to review a seller on ebay. So the question is what are the rules for vendor reviews are only positive ones allowed?
Well while I believe reviews are essential to educated commerce decisions, there IS a difference between individuals posting reviews or experiences, and someone else asking for all issues to be posted in a single thread. Kind of creates a “dog pile on the rabbit” environment.
Likewise, the thread was not started in the vendors forum, it was posted in a general forum.
Again, I agree any issues need to be addressed, but we need to be cognizant of HOW we’re asking for things to be addressed. Publicly airing a vendor’s mistakes, and essentially making him post what he’s done to correct it isn’t being fair. If I have an issue with an order, I can attempt to resolve with a vendor directly, and privately - only making it public if the resolution is not to my satisfaction. If I choose to make it public and others post like experiences, that’s fine.
If I have an issue, and make no effort to resolve it privately or directly, and instead take out a 30 second TV spot announcing an 800# and a class action lawsuit - well that becomes a little excessive.
If I have an issue and resolve it privately, then WHY bring it to the public’s attention, other than to let people know that there was an issue and the vendor either did or did not resolve it to my satisfaction.
I didn’t remove the thread. I don’t know the reason why it was removed. I didn’t follow the thread too closely. I do however think that there was an unfair slant to the post, and the vendor in question appears to have bent over backwards to try to resolve all issues appropriately.
John, I do agree you should have been contacted and had the mods reason for removing the thread explained to you rather than just having it deleted without any explanation being provided.
Craig, I did get contacted by automatic email response to the thread, and it did not give a reason, just who removed it. And who removed it is not in question, just why an explanation wasn’t provided.
Big Case,Why wouldn’t members post their opinions on the website?
