So my powerhead decided to take a leap overnight and stirred up my sand bed something nasty. I’ve cleaned up and done a 15% water change this morning, but is there anything else I should be on the lookout for. I figure I’ll have a nitrate spike so I’ll check that later today and do another water change if it needs one.
Sounds like you have it covered. Just watch your levels for a few days and skim wet.
Levels look good, nitrates are high as expected but not out of workable range. First time I’ve had ammonia show other than 0, so I’ll do another water change tomorrow to make sure I don’t have anything else creep up.

Still battling cyano, which have my nitrates go up again doesn’t help. Wish there was a quicker way to deal with that other than chemicals.

How high are your nitrates? And how are phosphates?
Nitrates have been below 5 consistently prior to the head falling, spiked to 15 and are back around 5 now. Phosphates have always been 0 or low enough not to be able to read them

15 isn’t all that bad. It’s not optimum but corals and fish should be fine.
