I’m not sure if maxi jet will suffice… and if i paid all this money for a chiller i want to make sure I use a sufficient powerhead
Thank you!

Not sure if this was talked about in another forum, but are you positive you needed a chiller? Tried multiple fans already?
I’ll have to talk with my coworkers and see what they have ever ran a chiller off a smaller pump in the past. All of the tanks that I have seen with chillers have had a line running off of the return pump(running from the sump to the display tank), so the one pump pulls double duty.(well often times triple duty or more running to other things)
You should also try contacting both the company you bought the chiller from and the manufacturer, Current, and get there feedback. Not saying I would trust their answer, but might help you make your choice. If you have a hard time getting Currents contact info let me know and I’ll see if I can get it for you.
lol we have had this chat on this forum before I got a chiller b/c I live in a dorm w/o air conditioning and im using HQI lighting… double negative… but this one doesn’t make a positive. I already purchased the chiller just wonderin about a powerhead to use
I was thinking about just getting a quietone… any one have experience w/ them?
Ive been using a quiet one 3000 760 gph for a couple years on the frag tank. seems pretty dependable and low wattage too, only 40 watts. which means less heat. the 4000 pumps 1000 gph on only 50 watts. both with the nominal 10 foot head.
How many gallons per hour should be pumped through it? Since it would be a closed system if your return from the chiller went into the same tank the pump was pushing out of you would have practicaly 0 head pressure. 3-4 of my systems are running off of the quiet one pumps and I like them. Mag pumps are also pretty dependable and I use them about 10 times a day for work.
We use a mag drive in our 37 and it is great, but the quietone is a bit cheaper and if it works well I probably want to go that route b/c I’m running out of money

+$$$
Ha! Wait till you get to 14 tanks!
O i have plenty of idea I’m in college… paying for that, and getting 200 bucks a month lol, hardly what I would call cash flow
Completely understand college. People on this board got real tired of hearing how poor I was. Sacrifices we must make if we are really into thing. I switched to the cheapest rum on the shelf and ate pasta and PB&J as well. The raffles at the DRC meetings in the fall can sometimes help with the hobby as well.
