can any one give me a few pointers, How to set up 2 sumps, (if i can get both to fit) i think i can make it work.
should i conect the drain hose to the large sump and the return to the smaller 10 gallon tank that im allready using. but the real question how do i conect the 2 sumps together ? another pump ? or syphon set up ? i would like to use both for more water for a larger system. Thanks for reading. Jason
I would never trust a siphon ever. Something will clog it or air will get in it and jam it. If you have ran a sump before you a likely familiar with micro bubbles. Micro bubbles can build to one bubble and stop the siphon. Unless you can drill a hole in both so one drains into the other then I wouldn’t suggest it. If you attempt to drill a very thinned glass 10g tank(= any tank made by a manufacturer) there is a good chance it will shatter the glass at one point or another. The acrylic one would be easier to drill into and could drain to the other. In which case the glass tank would be your sump.
Jason just put a 20 long sump one under it. one sump is better than 2. there are to many things that can go wrong with 2 sumps trust me I have been there. you can pick a 20 long up at petco and get some glass baffles cut at home depot and make your one for less than like under $80. but thats just me.

All depends on if he really has more then one true sump. If the acrylic is taller and he can fit a bulk head in it above where the tank next to it sets then it should be fine. If his set up requires them both to stay at the same water level or if he wants to put a return pump in each tank then there could be issues.
i was thinking to use 1 return pump.
jon set up a dual sump for me. he knows the logistics of it.
Or if you could put the acrylic above the other then you could drill it or cut a waterfall overflow in it and have it overflow into the bottom the top would be for the skimmer and should be baffeled to the correct hight for the skimmer and the bottom is for your return, keep in mind access for maintenance of the return pump and cleanings. I also like to put my return pump on a platform so that if for some reason the overflow fails the pump will run dry and not flood my house, would rather replace a pump then deal with a flood.
at this point i might just use the larger sump. use the 10g as a spair tank. and hopefully i can make a fuge in this sump.
