is there anyway on the home page or on the forum page we could get a quick post tab that will take you straight to posting a new topic in the section of your desire? does this sound stupid? just coming from a avid cell phone user that gets jammed up with all the steps to post.

Quesiton though… can you see the home page well on your cell? Mine gets all jumbled and for the most part is not even readable on my Treo.
Yes mine is clear and it looks just like it does on the computer.

I think that’s a great idea. My iphone displays the pages fine, its just the edge network is so damn slow it would take forever to get to post a new topic.

I really think we should try to get a mobile friendly version of the home page up since I am not the only one trying to load the page while mobile. There is a way to do it so it loads a different page on handhelds then it would on home based PCs, so those using there old desk tops won’t notice a change. Once I’m done moving I’ll look into the code. Add it to the list of things I need to do for the club when I get done moving.

Ive got to disagree. If this were the case, we wouldnt even need our own forum becuase 99% of our posts can be found on RC. I think it would discourage interaction and the forum would simply become a repository of information instead of a dynamic exchange of ideas.
If the redundancy is annoying, you can either ignore the thread or direct the poster to an archived thread.

I’ve already “looked into” this. It shouldn’t be a problem, but I don’t have a test bed. Anyone want to volunteer their hardware so I can test this out?

I’m guessing he means a phone capable of loading it all.
I dont think this site has that much traffic that it would be an issue of duplicate posts and most people that come here know enough to search before posting. I figure if they are in need enough to post while out via mobile phone either they can’t search and its an emergency or they have searched and could not find the answer. I’d suggest giving it a shot, if there is an issue it can be removed.
Making a mobile compatible site isn’t that difficult, but it depends on what you want to do…
iPhone for $200 for a $70 contract? Once you jailbreak the iphone you will be very hard pressed to find a better contender, open community will always win out
No, lol, I’m not lending anyone my phone and I dont have a spare phone that can load web sites.
We also mentioned a page that was 56k friendly.
