I heard NASCAR was back in town this weekend. Figures the weekend I have stuff going on down south.
I have to drive down south from Newark on Friday afternoon. There is a race that starts at 4:45 on Friday. Should I try to drive while the race is going on or before?
I will be returning either late Saturday night from the slots in Harrington or Sunday from Lewes.
Drive down either as early as possible or as late as possible on Friday.
People going to the truck race will be heading down Friday afternoon but all of the die hard rednecks will be going down all day Friday and Saturday for the events of the weekend.
Hey why don’t you try to hit Dover Mall for some shopping while oyu’re down that way YahoO BoNg
Ha! Really wanted to stop into The Fish Bowl, but no offense to BJ in the crew, but they won’t catch me there this weekend. Probably take me as long to get from 1 to where they are in 13 as it would normally take to get from my house to TFB. Will be no shopping in Dover this weekend.
I’ve gotta call Steph and see how early she can get off work.

And don’t quote me, but I think the FishBowl usually closes for part of race weekend because of traffic.[/quote]
I wouldn’t blame them.
During the race is what I was thinking. Unfortunately during the race = during weekend beach traffic rush hour. Not sure what the weather is going to be like, but the water is still fairly warm. Steph is going to try to get off around noon and we’ll be ready to head down asap.

please [glow=red,2,300][shadow=red,left]do not return anytime sunday before the race starts[/shadow][/glow], and after it’s over is much worse until quite late at night. go by or through or near dover only when the race is on.

“Drive down either as early as possible or as late as possible on Friday.”
well as one who actually lives through the debacle, not some einstein genius from up north who thinks up patterns of traffic flow and dispenses them like words from on high and never takes pictures at the meetings,
travelling during the race is the only way to do it. traffic to the beach can be murderous friday night, but maybe the season being over, only people who wanna great time with great weather and warmer water will go.
Paul trust me we get the traffic issues up here on race weekend as well. AND I am one of you 100K uninvited guests that usually come in for race weekend ;D
Friday you have to deal with the traffic for Friday nights truck race, and the people and RVs traveling down for the weekend AND anyone still going down the beach.
On Saturday you have the people coming in for the 200 mile Busch series race AND the 400 mile Sunday Nextel race.
Sunday evening when the race is over it is absolutely ridiculous.
I’m not saying that diving DURING the race isn’t best – I’d personally not go anywhere NEAR Dover on race weekend if I wasn’t going to the race.
And if I never take pictures at the meeting just how do I still have this little gem laying around??
By the way - - Does anyone else see a similarity??
So perhaps late Saturday night return from Harrington would be best? rather then hanging until Sunday.
What do you think it will be like around 1pm Friday? Steph has to work Friday morning and we need to be down by Friday night. (beach clean up bright and early in Lewes)
9 can be worse than horrible if you get behind 1 really slow old geezer [older and slower than me], and you can easily be behind 50 drivers this weekend, any one of whom might cause you difficulties. NO rt 9 before the race. during it should be ok
suggestion: friday night during the race rt 1, but there shouldn’t be real probs before it starts. return MUST be during the race, if you come up sunday. really late sat night, way after the race is over, can work too. lotsa luck
thats true. everybody who drives one/13 regularly knows route 9. its like the relief route when 13 backs up. Ive been in wagon trains on 9 before.
where as 896 is at your door. take it south over the canal to 301, 15, and back to 13 south of dover. only thing is rte. 15 swings through the west side of Dover, and probably has a lot of traffic lights. i bet one the southies know what its like.
