Pretty impressive animals as well. Honestly haven’t paid as much attention to either species in the past as they outgrow most people’s aquariums. +15" is no joke.
I work with a tank 1-2 a week that has a ~12" Unicorn and it is a sight to watch that fish devour sheets of algae. It must be fed to capacity in order for the 2 other tangs and any other fish for that matter get a chance to eat anything.
Oh yes they would most def be the “king of the tank” lol
I’m sure it takes much dedication to keep such an animal and keep it happy. That’s why I’ll stick with my powder blue who is already a pig lol and one day add an Achilles and a purple tang once I get a bigger tank ::drool::

Purple tangs are great, just make sure it’s the last fish that you add to the tank. Mine can be an aggressive d-bag when he wants to be.
Our purple tang is just plain nasty towards other fish. I had planed to reintroduce it to other fish once I had enough, but now even with 19 fish in my 120gallon I still want to wait until I upgrade to a larger tank and get even more fish.
I did manage to place a large 3" Amblygobius phalaena (“sleeper goby”) in with it and, although they battle for food and the tang gets rough, the goby is still alive.
