Red Bugs

well after looking around i have found that there are red bugs crawling all over my acros. i olny have 3 acros so its not to bad.

what is the best means to get rid of them? i plan on dipping the coral in the next couple day but that might not be enough. what else can i do? is there a fish that will eat it,lol?

You know, When Julian Sprung was here, he mentioned he has been getting lots of feedback on his new botanical based coral cleaner dip, ReVive by Two Little Fishies. many people were telling him it killed off things like red bugs and and acro eating flatworms. and maybe even those montipora eating nudibranchs too. He hasnt claimed that to be so yet not until he does some extensive testing. But I have a couple bottles if you want to try some. you just mix 10ml with a quart of clean new saltwater and dip the corals for five minutes or so. they say these types of bugs stay on their prey coral and dont roam around. so a couple dips over a week should remove them from the tank. If it does indeed kill the bugs you have.
couldnt hurt.

thanks ken but i have some. i read a bunch of reviews and it seems as though it will kill the bugs. ill give it a try and hopefully it will work. the only thing is that my colonies are big.

Well, then i guess you will just have to mix a 5 gallon bucket full of the stuff to dip the colonies. maybe a 29 gallon tank full. How big are the corals?

not that big but ill have to put a little thought into it.

1 last question do i use freshly made saltwater or can i use “used” saltwater.

Here is a very good link about getting rid of red bugs.
