I added it to the calendar and created the link to the forum topic. I just added basic info and locked the thread till we add more info.
Yeah, we will be ready to do the presentation at the Feb Meeting. It will give me something to do while I am in Bivalve, NJ next week.
This thread got buried for a little while. Time to make sure we are set for the meeting.
Bellamy you all set for the presentation? Am I right in assuming we’ll need a projector and a lap top?
Craig volunteered for the Creature of the Month.
We don’t have a second topic lined up yet do we? Rich had volunteered a long time ago to do some sort of DIYS demo for the club and he said he would be ready for this month, but we haven’t discussed that in a couple of weeks. Should I push him to be ready with something? When I originally talked with him about it he had said he could do a simple plumbing demo. Would that work?
Here is the outline Al proposed a while ago. I think it works, anyone see anything they think should be adjusted or all we all good with it?
20 min - Raffle money and Dues General talking 700
10 min - intro 720
10 min - new member intro 730
10 min - The critter of the month (short) 740
20 min - Diy topic 800
10 min - Raffle 810
20 min - 2nd topic 830
30 min - catch all - if needed otherwise open time 900
I think the schedule looks good. I will be ready with the presentation… we are working to finish it off this week. We will need a computer w/ power point and a projector ideally, because a large part of using macro algaes in an aquarium is looks.
Craig will you be able to bring your lap top again? I’ll e-mail Marty about the projector.
Yes I can bring the laptop again. And I have PowerPoint loaded now as well.
Marty will be bringing the projector as long as we let him know where the meeting will be this month.
Does anyone have any opinions on this:

While “a simple plumbing demo” might sound boring to some, I actually wouldn’t mind one.
Rich installs systems that, I’m sure, need to be as silent as possible. I’d love to see how the pros keep the gurgle down to a minimum.

Agreed
It might help convince more people to come if we can agree on a schedule and post it, but we still have some topics not locked up yet. (I think Al may have already said this, but at that time we still didn’t have at DIYS demo)
I moved the DIYS demo to the end of this proposed schedule as Bellamy will be ready for sure and I have not heard from Rich in the last hour to see if he will be ready. It will also be short notice so we can’t expect anything amazing. At the same time we allotted 10 minutes so it should be easy to do 5 mins worth of quick tips and 5 mins of Q&A. I will post when I hear from Rich and he has agreed to present. Please post feedback about the below purposed schedule:
20min - Raffle money / Dues 7:00pm
20min - Announcements /intro 7:20
10min - The critter of the month by Craig 7:40
20min – Bellamy’s presentation on (insert title here) 8:30
10min - Raffle 8:10
20min - Diy topic (Rich?) (If time allows) 8:00
30min - End of official meeting, Welcome to stay a bit and chat 9:00
I also removed, “New member introâ€ÂÂÂÂÂÂÂ. I think we can make this a part of our plan, but I was thinking perhaps we could leave it out of the announce as it may make any shy people more nervous about coming out.(there are a lot of oddball people in this hobby and currently we want to grow the club)

Jon I can’t say I agree with the part about handling all frag trades before or after the meeting - it just sounds kinda rough. I understand we have a schedule and would like to stick to it as much as possible but we need to consider the basic interests of the club. If they’re having fun swapping frags - let them have fun swapping frags.
There was talk about a group frag swap at this meeting, is that no longer an option?
I just removed: “Please handle all frag trades and any other biz before or after the meeting.” from the thread. Should we write swaping frags into the agenda?
I thing it should be tabled till the next meeting. Why?
1 more time to plan as of now it would be thrown together
2. Since we have 2 presentations it is time prohibited. We can us eth e 2nd later 20 min time slot next month to have the swap. We should work out the details and post it to get the most interest. right now according to the thread maybe 6 people would eb involved. It would eb more fun with 15-40 people involved.
If you want I could work out an Idea or 2, post them here and we could pick the best option. then present it as part of next months meeting.
My presentation will be entitled - Macro-algae in the marine aquarium: Why, What, and How?
