As you’re all aware sand contains a ton of beneficial micro fauna that our tanks use to become successful. Unfortunately over time we end up with not much micro diversity. To combat this and make our tanks stronger it’s sometimes good to share a cup of sand with fellow reefers.
I’ve taken part in small sand trades and large sand trades. The last one Wet Pets Hawaii sent 10 lbs. of sand right from the Hawaii reefs. This is a great way to increase the biological diversity in our tanks.
Chris (Chris&Barb) is coordinating a sand trade over on reef-geeks.com. You can check it out, get all the information, and ask any questions here http://www.reef-geeks.com/forums/reef-geeks/4828-reef-geeks-winter-spring-sand-trade.html Chris will be accepting sand at Monday’s meeting if you’re interested in participating.
The only thing he asks is that you post over on his thread on RG so he can keep track without having to run all over every board we post on.
