I am ordering my sb reef lights tomorrow, I am getting the basic ones(2).
My questions are how high should they be off the top of my tank. The tank is a 110 gallon 30"inches tall. And what are most you that have them setting the intensity at? Thankyou for the help.
what do you have in your tank now coral wise
No corals yet, but I’m looking to buy some, but just beginner stuff, like soft, hardy sps, easy stuff for now.
Mike at ASR has them in the store. He has them running over a couple tanks too.
So I’ve made a good choice then, if shops are using them, they must be good.

Welllllll… He sells Jebao stuff too. So I don’t know if I’d use that as a litmus test
As far as settings go you are in a good position as you won’t have to acclimate anything, I would try for 6 to 8 inches above water level and adjust color to your liking with a level of 65 or 70% max for blues and 40 or 50% max for white.
I hear of people saying you can’t get good coverage of light unlees your 10"or higher, is that true, my tank is 48" wide 18" deep and 30" tall. I guess the main thing I worry about is if I have coral at or near the bottom, will the light reach them for growth.
you just place your coral high or low depending on their needs, you should have no problem reaching 30inches even with 120 degree lens but 90s in the middle and 120s on the outside would be better
