So I decided to put my Calcium Monitor up for sale on RC and Ebay - I mentioned in my ad that it was for sale on Ebay but I’d rather sell it on RC. I woke up this morning to find my thread locked.
I closed your thread because you have it on ebay. If you pull it from ebay (I didn't look) I will unlock it. Selling out from under a ebay to curcumvent fees is against their rules. Thank you for your cooperation.

Regardless aren’t ebay rules up to ebay to enforce?
I mean the last time I checked RC mods didn’t moonlight as the “Ebay Police”.
D-Bags response?
Since you're offering shipping, you're not selling it locally.
We generally make a judgement call on it. It’s an offsite sale and an auction as I see it. Neither is allowed.
Really - an off-site sale? I didn’t see a link to another forum board or website anywhere.
So just to be an a$$ I press on:
So just out of curiosity -how does also offering it up for sale on Ebay deteriorate RC, damage it's membership, dilute it's name or otherwise affect it's members, officers, or staff?
Her witty response this time?
Just move on and get over it.
And well anyone that knows me knows I don’t go away that easy…
Why? I am merely asking you to validate a decision you personally made regarding one of your members and one of your services. I didn't violate any of RC's TOS so therefore if you're going to make a unilateral decision affecting the policies and procedures of the site, it's rules, and it's members then I think I am certainly justified in requesting a justification.
I view it the same as being pulled over by a police officer and being given a ticket for doing 30 in a 35 because HE feels the speed limit should be lower then the posted limit.
Unless of course you feel that maybe you made a mistake and would prefer not admit it. In which case I will be happy to let it drop with a mere “sorry”.
Hey Craig, that same mod dc(debi) took my post of my frags for sale off of RC. She basically said that I now am starting to fit the profile of a commercial hobbyist because anyone who sets up a frag tank with eggcrate is doing it for profit. :-)lol I have been in this hobby for over 6 yrs and if she thinks by selling my propagated coral frags for dirt cheap to other reefers that I am making a profit, she is out of her mind. >LOCO<
And the fact that I haven’t offered any help or info to anyone on the site in the past 5 months. Maybe there are already too many so called experts there.
What was once a very good website, has now itself become toooo commercialize.
I know that people have been complaining about RC for years but i guess ive been oblivious. Recently, though, its hard to not notice how bad things are. Ita amazing to me that the leadership does recognize the obvious and attempt to make changes. They ran their e-zine into the ground and now its a blog? What a joke. A large portion of the local club boards are essentially vacant because they have migrated, along with most of their members, to self-hosted sites like our own. They have alienated almost all of their notable contributors and replaced them with average hobbyiest that work for free. If that wasnt enough they are now chasing away most of their sponsors as well. Seachem recently left after being a staple at RC for years and most of the mom&pop sponsors are long gone! Its really sad when you compare the current state of RC to what it was 3-5 years ago. If they put half the amount of effort into producing quality content as they do into policing moderating the site it would do wonders. What i would give to take a look at their stats!!
unlikely. if anyone recalls, RC “crashed” last year and was offline for several days. there was at least 3 or 4 unofficial explanations but the “official” halfa$$ed explanation was “unexpected maintenance” which, for anyone in IT, could not be more funny!!

So I decided to re-list the item without the disclaimer that it was up on Ebay - -guess who sent me a PM tonight?
Give me a reason why I shouldn't put you on probation? You've got 5 days left on you ebay auction and it's not removed.
My response:
"Well Deb - can you emphatically prove this? I’ve searched and I can’t find a cdangel0 selling a Calcium Monitor on Ebay. I was however able to find 3 - which one do you think is mine and why?
Because if you can’t, and you put me on probation, or lock another sale thread you would be opening not only RC but yourself up for litigation for discrimination. I have not violated any of your Terms of Service I have complied with your request to remove the auction from Ebay in order to re-list on RC.
Does RC carry Errors and Omissions insurance and are the moderators covered for their actions?
You see many many many people are allowed to sell on RC, singling me out because you ASSUME I have done something that may potentially violate another provider’s TOS would be discrimination.
Before you overreact - please understand I am not threatening you. You asked me for a reason and I provided one.
And before you hit the “Probation” button - you may want to see if you can find a sale thread on www.saltwaterfish.com"
I think I will be ordering those “Banned from RC” shirts soon.
Wheres your thread on RC or did she lock it couldn't find it but if you need a certain amount of posts to view it I don't qualify anyway since I'm VERY rarely on that site.
I’ve just politely requested the thread be re-opened as I am not being provided the services which I was presented with upon my joining RC and giving them my personal information. Basically they are currently in breech of our contract.
Did you know it only costs $30 to sue someone in small claims court in Delaware?
No I did not know that I tried the link, I dont buy into RC so I don’t have enough cl ought for thhere standards lOl
billrob71, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:
Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else’s post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.

that was def a poor explanation, i do remember their site being down for a day or so. wait until they tick off the wrong person with a lot of time on their hands…hahah
Yeah, i checked, its CLOSED and LOCKED. I only go there now and then to see if there are any good new topics on some of the forums. Read a few replys by Randy and Greenbean. My two Faves. Otherwise its just too noisy. They have become a victim of their own success. They have gotten so big, it’s just like shouting at the refs from the cheap seats at eagles stadium. They don’t really hear you, and they don’t care.
Actually I think in this case RC got better. Not that I agree with them. Usually they would have hit the ban button on the first response. And then you re-listed and still didn’t get banned? Wow all MODS must be required to take Prozac now. Now what you need is someone else to list an item for sale and state its on ebay and not get their thread closed and you have a case for discrimination.
