I have seen plenty of people egg create and PVC pipe shelves to place a skimmer on to lift them up a bit, but to me these are a bit shaky for a large tall skimmer. I’m working on a tank where I need to lift a skimmer up significantly and I was hoping to come up with something I could really trust, that won’t tip over. Ideas?
with some spare acrylic you could prob make a nice stable one for cheap… if you have the right glue. If you don’t have any (spare acrylic… sorry i dont have the glue), i’ll be cutting down a sump i got from bill, and will have a few pieces i’m sure.
yeah i did the egg crate and pvc trick as well. since i have a bunch of woodworking tools around, I actually notched the pvc so the egg crate fit in to slots. seemed to make it pretty secure, and haven’t had any issues…
I’ve got a lot of scrap acrylic, but don’t have the tools to cut it cleanly or the time to devote to the build.
Perhaps adding notches to PVC may be what I need to try. I haven’t built anything like this for a while, haven’t had the need to until now.
Thanks for the ideas and inspiration. I think I know what I can do now.
