Can a coral banded and a pistol shrimp live in the same tank?
I never heard of them being enemies. I know they both like to live in caves, especially the pistol. Do you have a blenny for the pistol?
I use to have a pistol that was a hitch hike on a rock. I heard a clicking and was wondering where it was coming from. One night I took a flashlight to the tank and saw him walking around making the clicking sound. I thought it was pretty neat.
i currently just have the coral banded. a friend of mine is selling her tank if she is not able to sell it as a complete package she will sell the livestock separately. She had the pistol and goby. If she decides to sell it separately I plan on getting them from her as long as it will work with the coral banded.
I think you should be ok - I think it’s the arrow crabs that are more aggressive to shrimp, not sure though.
I have a pistol shrimp and it’s pretty secretive. It stays in it’s cave for the most part, venturing out when food id in the water. I do know that pistols are territorial and will eat small fish and other things, that’s what they use their big claw / pistol for.
I can’t say for sure, but I think my pistol has been dining on a starfish. I’ve had the star for a while and it was doing fine. Now it’s down to just a couple of arms and they haven’t “rotted” off, they’ve been removed by something. The only culprit I can think of is the pistol, but I don’t have proof.
That’s an awesome video! Guess I won’t be getting any shrimp - lol.
wow! that is crazy!! I guess I will rethink geting the pistol shrimp.
WOW! I didn’t realized they do that. Good call Jim.
