Smart plumbing?

In my fight to dumb down noise in my dubbed “fish room” I got rid of all the rigid plumbing! So I decided to put ball valves on every single outlet and build a manifold off the pump. I then connected everything with reinforced vinyl tubing. The biggest question I kept asking myself was how to secure the tubing to the PVC barb fittings. I didn’t want to use stainless hose clamps because the screws will always rust, I came across plastic hose clamps but to ship em was more costly than the clamps themselves. So I used zip ties. Now before you start picturing this zip tie fiasco, I did some homework! I remembered helping my uncle installing HVAC and using large zip ties to secure flex duct to metal register boots. We used a zip tie gun to make them tight against the boot and it would cut the zip tie for a clean look. So I did just that! I bought 175 lb tensile strength 3/8" zip ties and a zip tie gun (happy Home Depot was close). I then put 2 tip ties on each fitting and staggered the zip tie head 180 degrees out as not to cause a possible opening for water to pass thru. I was skeptical that this would hold so I dumbed down my pump and turned it on. I then increased the pressure until I had the flow I wanted. A week later and my sump area is nice and dry with no leaks and it has dumbed the noise a bit (albeit still kinda loud because the nature of an aquarium). Figured I’d share just in case some one was wanting to get away from metal in their tanks! BoNg

I like it, now I have to go get a cable tie gun sounds better then pliers and a

Yeah it’s also a little safer too! The cable tie gun gets the zip ties nice and tight as well! :GEEK:

IDK? That pic looks like the Dilithium Crystal chamber of the Star Trek Enterprise. I hope she don’t Blow! said Scotty!! When the Klingon Red Planaria attack!
