Hey all, a person at lfs recommended a turbo snail to help clean up my glass and rocks of brown algae. But they are now eating the red and green algae off the live rock and leaving it bare, is this ok or should I remove them?
red and green as in cyano algae? leave it and they eat a little bit of everything but seem to prefer hair algae. Astrea Snails also eat lots of Brown/Diatom algae
I would let them go and do their thing, they are removing nitrates and phosphates
I am new to SW so I couldnt tell you what it is on the rocks. Just looks like green and red fuzz on the rocks.
Probably a mixture of Cyano and hair algae. Let the snails eat it.
+1 +2 +3 + ya leave them be. after they clean rock they will move around to glass ect. after few months coraline will make the rocks a nice purplish pink color.
Thanks for the info all. Really starting to like the SW hobby I may eventually turn my unused 55g into a SW or possible my 110g from FW to SW
