What’s up with all these spaming goin on? We were doing for several month with no spaming. Now for the past couple of days BAM! POW! BING! BONG! SPAM!!! WT LOLLOL!
Unfortunately these are people that literally sit in a room all day and google everything you can think of to find forums to post in. They get paid by the click, so the more they post the better the chance they get someone to check it out. Even if it’s just a forum moderator checking the link before they delete it they make $.02.
We had to make some changes to the registration process recently because legitimate people couldn’t register, unfortunately it means the spammers can register now too.
We’re looking for a new solution. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Can’t you have them not make new topics until 20 posts or so?
Doesn’t help Tim - then they just go and post replies to other threads. Then we have sponsors that get notified of a response on a thread 4 months old, then they log in and see the spam on their thread. I’d rather them start new threads as it’s slightly easier to contain.
are these robotic spammers? or real people clicking? should we use those funnny print visual password questions? you know retype the password displayed in drunken monkey script?
Or hows about provide your internet provider?
