I just received my order from Handibond of gel glue to use for setting frags to plugs or on rocks. I have been using it for over a year now.
I would like to know if there is anybody interested in doing a group buy for this item. If so, I will contact the company and see if we can get a discount for a large order. And they ship it for free!!! if more than 2 tubes are ordered.
Handibond Gel
Handibond Gel 0.7oz. (20g) Tube and Applicator Tip: $6.99
Specifications
Ethyl Cyanoacrylate Adhesive
Viscosity Gel
Curing Speed 60-90 seconds
Shelf Life 12 months
Color Clear
Application Notes
Handibond Gel can be used for bonding poorly mating components and for porous substrates such as china and other ceramics. A favorite of aquarium makers for bonding coral to rocks. Can be used on vertical surfaces as it will not drip or slump. Many craft uses bonding wood, cardboard, veneer, fabric, cork and some foams.
I would say that it is about the same. The advantage is that the tube holds more in it. And after some comparing price wise, may be cheaper to use. And I have sent an email to Handibond to see if we can get a discount on the price for a large order.
its the same chemical adhesive. but the Dollar tree packs have three 2 gram tubes of super glue gel in it for a dollar. thats 42 grams for $7.00. half price.
i have problems with the tube on larger sizes plugging up overnight. i can use a whole tube of the dollarstore stuff on a coupld frags and be done. then open a fresh one. do you have that problem?

most dollar stores have it. 2/$1
On the inside of the cap on these tubes there is a small plastic projection that inserts into the top of the opening of the tube and I have found that it makes it easy to keep the glue from drying out so it can be opened plenty of times.
I know about the dollar store small tubes, just was seeing if there was any interest in these larger tubes.
I just checked my email and here is the response from handibond as per large orders.
Hi John,
Sure, I can help you out. If you buy 50 tubes the cost is half off the store price- $3.50 = $175.00
For 100 tubes the price is $2.75 each = $275.00
This includes the shipping cost as well.
Hope this works for you,

That makes all the difference to me. I hate that super glue gel is essentially single use as I don’t usually have time to make all my frags at once.
I’d be in for 3 bottles myself.
I wonder if he’d be interested in donating some for the gift bags for the frag swap?
well, im loaded. i bought 5 three packs last week at the dollar tree.
they have them in plastic pouches now. plus i still have two 56.7 gram squeeze bottles of TLF CorAffix super glue, i won in the DSAS raffles. That usually sells for 16 cents a gram. a tad less than the dollar store.
Yes, if we get to 100 at $2.75 each tube, that is a very good deal. I will keep a list of how many each person wants to order and hope fully we can do it. Hey Jon (Gordonious), could you use this item?

Craig, I will ask if they are willing to donate for the swap. I did mention the swap in my email.
I don’t think the 12 month shelf life means that it will go bad if unopened. Right? So correct me if I’m wrong but it will last forever unopened. Just don’t want anyone to not buy because of that I have three large brs gel bottles left, but a good deal is a good deal. It’s like buying salt even though I have 400 gallons of mix at home if its $50 normally and I get it for $36 I’m getting it. Lol I’m gonna use it

Not sure how long exactly, but glue does go bad. I probably bought $15 worth of dollar store glue that was rock solid before I decided they had major issues with expiration in their supply chain and switched to hobby glues.
I made a post mocking the cost of EcoTech’s glue many months ago and I have been meaning write a retraction on that for a while, but I haven’t had time to type one. I use a lot of their glue and each tube lasts a LONG time. They use a long metal pin to make the product not lock up between uses. I really like it.
That certainly helps it last a long time and seems to be one of the biggest things when buying glue.
To any eco-friendly posters(I know there is likely only one posting, but thought I would state it anyways) dollar store glue uses a LOT more packaging material then the bottles John or I use. Something to keep in mind.
