stopped in to fishbowl

for some live brine. saw a really colorful green mussel colony and a yellow leaf scorpionfish that is real nice. not to mention the baby clown triggers. wowza! wish i had a tank for them! just thought the searchers for that unusual specimen might be interested. i am no shill for fb, but these are different!

since u brought it up… what r the advantages/disadvantages, aside from filter feeding, to the mussel colony? pretty new in dealing with these really.

on a site “A mussel will filter 10-15 gallons of water a day, consuming virtually everything in it.”

I like the mussel idea. any mollusk, even your clams will clean the water of algae and detritus. my old 75 still has some wild mussels and small clams growing on the rock. came in with it 10 years ago. I think they have spawned a little. couldnt have lasted that long. i find one now and then. I once tried buying some chesapeake bay live oysters and put them in the fuge to filter water. lasted a while. must have been out of the water too long though, they died in a month or so.
