Hello everyone, I’ve got a 29 gallon tank with a about 25-30 lbs of rock in it, covered in coralline algae. Its been established for over 6 months now and I am starting to notice a strange new addition. I have not added anything new since sighting these new tubeworms, at least that is what i think they are. They are completely clear and tubular in shape and only about a quarter of an inch tall. Sorry for the lack of picture, they are not the easiest fellows to photograph.
Any information would be helpful,
thanks.
Hum. Really hard to tell with that description and no image. Try clicking on the links section at the top of the page and looking through the links under Invertebrates Identification.

Might be a type of flat worm?
Do you notice any dots, line, or appendages? Move fast, slow, or never move? Any response to light turning on or off? Any response to touch?(Be careful touching something in a marine tank you don’t know what it is, try tongs to start) Anything else that might help identify them?
No they aren’t flatworms, I’ve seen pictures of flat worms, they may be tunicates. Sorry I couldn’t think of the word “tunicate” before. They are so small though and they are completely clear, if it wasn’t for my mother’s quick eye I never would have noticed them.
Tunicates really don’t move unless you touch them. Do they move fast, slow, or never move? Any response to light turning on or off? Any response to touch?(Be careful touching something in a marine tank you don’t know what it is, try tongs to start)
I haven’t tried touching them yet but i will try that next. The may not be tunicates because don’t they have a wide base that tampers up to a smaller opening? I’ve been looking online for pictures of them as well and could not find anything.
Did you take a look at thos websites?
Yeah, I looked at the websites, but couldn’t pinpoint what they were. I will try to get a good picture today to post up.
that websites awesome, helped me ID my stomatellas, thnx Jon
