I have used Compact Smart Lites (total 260 watts for 75 gal. tank) for many years now and would like to change them for T5’s. Any recommendations for brand names, etc. Thanks.
I just switched to the aquaticlife fixture that has a built in timer 6 bulbs and led moonlights. Just a day in to the switch so I cant give a lot of details but I researched it and the brand got good reviews
I had T5’s on my original tank shortly after they became widely available years ago, have used them with metal halides for years, and just recently setup a tank that is T5 only. I swapped out my OEM ballasts for Icecap 660 ballast because of the depth of my tank and the difference was remarkable. As far as bulbs go i love ATI(blue plus all the way) and dont care too much for UVL which are really the two brands i have used most except for the OEM current bulbs, which i have to say, arent that bad after seeing them side by side with ATIs. Their blue bulb is actually a really nice color.
I use the Nova Extreme Pro 6 bar over my 75g. I run a combination of AquaticLife and Ice Cap bulbs and am fairly happy with it. The fixture is a nice way to upgrade without breaking the bank.
I’ve been looking at the Aquatic Life fixtures with the built in timers and they seem to be really nice lights. I can say I am very happy with the color and intensity of their bulbs.
I run the ATI Sunpower lights and absolutely love them. I would definitely recommend them. They have a low profile, and have a stainless steel outershell instead of black… If its going to be visible i would def choose ATI…
