I have noticed that a lot of people like to use pvc to plumb there tanks. I was wondering if anyone could post pictures on there plumbing and explain what they did. Thanks for the help.
i used pvc in my tank because i cant drill it…so i used the 2-U method…to get water for the DT to the sump area…and it stays primed with an aqua lifter installed on the U shape…
This is taken from just underneath the right side drain line. The tank drains through (2) 1.5" drain lines to a sump in the closet.
Water is skimmed there then pushed up to a refugium. Refugium flows back to the DT via a single 1.5" return line gravity feed. Return pump is T’d off to dump water back in the sump to allow extra skimming. Also enables a quick water change by allowing an additional elbow and drain line to be attached.
I like using U pvc too like LB, for the pump return line. but i hang it on the corner of the tank with a 2 foot long vertical drop line behind the tank, then connect it to the mag7 in the sump with a 5 foot section of 1 inch ID black vinyl hose. make a sweeping loop with the extra length and its weight holds the pve in place in the tank. the hose makes it easy to pull the pump out for cleaning and repair. just pick it up and pop off the hose andtake the pump to repair area for cleaning( my guest bathroom) .
