My other vote went towards a clam group buy. I know that clamsdirect has some pretty good GB deal, but I’m not sure if there are enough people around that are interested/ready for a tridacna… otherwise I think divers den would be cool… I already spend to much money at Dr. Macs otherwise I would say that.
Yeah, really I’m interested in a lot of these, my preference for DiversDen is absolutely based on their 14 day guarantee. I know a couple of people who got fish from Dr Mac and other places that died in 48hrs or so, and his tanks are awesome. Dealing with wild animals, sometimes they just die.
I think we need a group buy for treasure chest bubblers… I really dont see enough of those in our reef tanks >LOL<
I vote for more clean up crew as well- do you think Dr mac would do it? if so I dont mind running a relay race- I can pickup and hand off to someone on 301- no shipping that way… just a thought. ( actually I really dont mind doing that for anything from Dr macs since its only about an hour away…)
E
Bulbs and clean-up crew… Bulbs because I need some T5s and a VHO or two…Don’t really need the clean up crew YET, but I do need a few more in my tank and the QT/Hosp/Bully tank needs a snail or two
@firecrackerbob: my gf would love a scuba diver bubbler, lol, she can’t find a good one anywhere
Reeftopia offers good group buys for clean up crews. I remember we did it on RC a while back. I would definitely be in for that. Maybe someone should contact them?
Anyone interested in a group buy for a CUC? I know reeftopia offers some good prices! Your Source for Saltwater Invertebrates & Fish | Reeftopia
I am about to put in an order very soon, once I get my FO tank setup. So figured I’d check here see if anyone wants in?

Jeff - I would not place that order with Reeftopia. I know we’ve had success with them in the past but I just ordered a small CUC package.
Was supposed to be:
100 turbo snails
100 small blue leg hermits
24 Cerith snails
6 Nerite snails
All of the hermits arrived DOA, they never sent (and admitted made a mistake and didn’t send) the nerites. They will not replace the items unless I order more stuff. Shannon at Reeftopia told me that if the order did not qualify for free shipping they would split the shipping with me. So being as they only have 1 of the items I wanted in stock it’s going to cost me an extra $45-$50 to get the things they were already supposed to have sent.
Craig, thanks for the heads up. Wow, that sucks, sorry to hear about that. Any suggestions on where to get a clean up crew then? I was really counting on that :-("
Jon, just because its a FO tank without any corals doesn’t mean I can’t have a CUC! I am going to have large angels, tangs, eel and maybe a Xanthichthys trigger. Stuff that will eat corals (mainly angels) but not crabs and snails. Plus I need more of a CUC for my reef tank.
Any ideas on where to go? Wonder if we could talk to RT about Craigs case and get some kind of agreement that everything with arrive alive and ok or it gets fixed and we can get craigs old order to him for free.
I’m still going around with them on this, but they keep hiding behind their “guaruntee” page. To me it’s BS because aside from the hermits they never sent the nerites. All in all it was about 1/2 the cost of the package that i didn’t get.
Their next response determines wther or not I notify Visa and MasterCard that they are charing credit cards without shipping merchandise and refusing to issue credits. Which if anyone was curious is cause for them to lose their Visa/MC privilges and face a hefty penalty.
I’m thinking saltwaterfish.com would have probably been a better deal - even with their $10 fuel surcharge. At least they have always shipped everything they were supposed to.
edit: OK so I probably won’t go that far - just felt good to say it out loud. I’ll probably just dispute the charge with my CC company.
Guess we’ll wait until your next email. Maybe in the meantime we should look into saltwaterfish. I don’t know if someone with authority on DRC could email companies about group buys through our club, get better discounts?
Craig,
I would definatly b*#%h and moan until you get your order for free. That’ BS. If they didn’t send what your ordered they need to send it to you ASAP. The error was on them. Not sure about the dead crabs, not sure what their guarantee is, but I would think they would want to split the loss with you.
Make sure they are aware you are a respected member of the most active Delaware fish forum and you will be passing on your experience with them (its ok to embellish a little…we know your not REALLY a respected member…).
Im not sure how they compare, but I have been thinking about doing another order through ccritters.com. They gave me a pretty good price on the ricordea group buy (6$ each) and the rest of their stuff is pretty reasonably priced. It took a while for them to collect them all because its just one guy that does the collecting but when it was finally all collected it came in pretty quick.
What about Dr. Macs. I bought my first CUC from them and everything was perfect. I picked it up. I am sure if we do this they will give us some sort of break.
Craig
F That!!! I would not stand for that. It is unfortunate that in these days and times people dont understand customer service. Now by not giving you what 75 bucks or so in incentives for THEIR mistake they have lost on at least 500 in sales. That is crazy!!! I wouldn’t stop till i talk to the CEO and then I would tell them what are they going to do for my time. (You know you get paid like 75/hr!!!)
