edit: OK so I probably won’t go that far - just felt good to say it out loud. I’ll probably just dispute the charge with my CC company.
Maybe you should say it out loud to Shannon. A gentle reminder of that might get a better response.

 • this doesn’t mean that I don’t want to hear your bitching btw. No offense, but I’m happier when I’m not the one bitching … :stuck_out_tongue:

100 hermits! Christ what did you do with all those! I’d think eBay would be more of a gamble. You might get great service or you might get crap, it depends on who you get it from. But 15-25 cents each is awesome…

I agree with DamnPep, I’d think if someone with a DRC based email sent an e-mail to companies, they’d get a better response on the group buy.

Ive heard nothing but horrible things about saltwaterfish.com
I’ve heard the same things, and to be honest i don’t understand it myself. I have ordered from them several times and have had nothing but great service.

When i first got in to the hobby I ordered my CUC from them. The hermits immediately killed most of the snails. I told them what happened and they were happy to replace them for me.

Shannon played the “mom and pop” store card - and went in to detail on how she needs to follow company policy…blah blah blah. I let her know that it was HER screw up and I was amazed that she wasn’t jumping up and down to make it right - I’m done with e-mail I asked her to call t discuss or credit my credit card immediately.

I’m hoping she realizes what she is doing to the stores reputation - especially since I told her what she was doing to it. Guess my next e-mail will include a link to this thread just to be sure she understands completely.

Ummm … that’s the purpose of this thread, I thought. To find out what to do for the next GB. Of course, I could be wrong …

Maybe…

Has any of the vendors been contacted? When do we go from gauging interest to seeing what kind of deals we can get? If it’s a good deal I could be persuaded to buy something I don’t necessarily need, if I know its a good deal.

It would be cool to do a GP from a place that had more then just a CUC like reeftopia does. I’d love to get some rics as well. I know reeftopia had cheap queen angels though :-("

Whatever everyone decides, I am definitely down for a CUC. I need a lot too!

I have made big orders $500 from Reeftopia and had nothing but good things to say. I also know a lot of local stores buy from them because of there warehouse prices can’t be beat

To their defense, I’ve heard a lot of good things about reeftopia and never had trouble with them myself. But the “Mom and Pop” store does sell on a national level to LFS through a different name as a distributer, so I wouldn’t fall for that line. Also doesn’t make a lot of sense how she has to follow “company policy” and things are over her head… isn’t part of the perks of being a small “Mom and Pop” biz being able to talk with the people who have power and better costumer service?

Jeff, I was just making the point that it’s ironic that you’re referring to you’re Fish “Only” tank when you’re adding a clean up crew. I’m not saying that you can or can’t have inverts in you’re tank. Will be interesting to see which species Xanthichthys you end up with and wither or not they help keep your tank an “FO” tank. Let us know how that works out.

I am really lost with this mom and pop thing, I don’t know what place you all are talking about? Oh well, just let me know where we end up going and I will definitely be in!

Jon, I know, usually FO tanks consist of puffers, wrasses and triggers that eat snails and crabs. My old bluethroat didn’t bother any snails or crabs before. I am more then likely going with one of those again, can’t beat the price, but I’d love a crosshatch haha. I’d like to try cleaner shrimp as well, even with my eel. I have seen photos of the most aggressive eels getting cleaned by shrimp, having them go in the mouth and pop out a gill later, very cool.

So I emailed reeftopia, they said the usual. Orders over $200 get 10% off, they can get craigs order back to him no charge and help with bagging items to our individual needs. I can copy and post the email later, I’m on my phone right now. Let me know if anyone is interested and we can get this going.

So is anyone interested? Over $200 we get 10% off, we can get craigs right order back as well. Let me know if anyone wants to get in on this.

thats neat and simple…my only question is do you typically wait until the bottle is completely empty to refill it…or can you unscrew the cap at anytime to add freshwater??

Usually we wait until the bottle is completely empty, but if I happen to notice it getting low then we will refill it. This works fairly well… we put a 2 liter on over thanksgiving break and it still had a little left in it when we got back 5 days later. (This is on a small tank though)

kindof late but some stuff to add…

For cracks… if you drill a tiny hole like tiy tiny where the end of the crack is it will relieve the pressure and stop the crack from growing… 1/8 bit should work… Then patch with acrylic and you good to go…
