who knows how to tell if a tank has tempered glass? I read about the polarized trick but am confused if it can be done with water in the tank. I would like to know if my tank is tempered.
Best way to be sure is to check with the tank maker. Most tanks the bottom is done but on most 55 gal tanks all pieces are. What size tank and who made it will make it easier for us to help you
i dont know the maker but it is a 150 with 1/2" glass on the sides. its 4’x2’ I don’t think its marineland i think its all glass or pentax something like that
ok i got the tank 8 years ago from pet smart i called them and it is either a top fin or marineland i am leaning toward top fin and heard they are made by aqueon but unsure
ok so after reading i found out that top fin is pet smarts brand. but i hear that its made by another company and its perfecto or marineland which are the same now i know its not high quality but it is holding up fine and I would like to drill the back of the tank at the top.
I would look to see if you can find any info on top fin tanks. What size tanks had tempered glass and on what pieces. I know marineland has a sheet online for all there tanks to tell you what’s what
Is it reef ready tank you want to add a hole to? If it has an overflow box already on it looking at the style of overflow will help significantly. If you can look at the bottom of the tank from underneath(sometimes you can’t depending on your stand) there may be quality control stickers or tags that may help you figure it out. Just a couple other ideas to try to narrow it down what it is.
its not reef ready no sticker on the tank at all. My 75 says bottom is tempered do not drill. but the 150 has nothing
