I was doing some reading and came across this link on how to tell if tank glass is tempered. Interesting way to check.

now that is VERY interesting. I definitely want to try this out!
other way is take a lighter and and if you see three lights its tempered
Heard stuff about polarized sun glasses, but never this. Thanks for posting the link.

it would appear to be the exact same thing only using a different method.

i had never heard that but it was mentioned in the thread as well. The author seems to think that its difficult to see. have you ever seen the effect personally? was it very obvious?
I useded this trick before and i felt it worked great you can clearly see the flame three times
smack it with a hammer, if it stays toghether its tempered, also i prefer to use the method of… ask the manufacturer upon purchase. of course there is also the method of the big white sticker on almost every tank that says “TEMPERED GLASS, DO NOT DRILL”
Since you mentioned polarized lenses. I guess if you use the polarized sun glasses, it looks clear rotated on the common plane, and dark on the 90 degree rotation plane. sounds good.
lOl lOl lOl tim your a trip… no wait your a vaction

Problem with this is some times the manufacturer does not exsist any more or changes back and forth with the type of glass from one year to the next. Smaller companies are bought and sold, change names and owners many times. I heard of a new tank manufacturer earlier this week actually. Some wholesalers stock up on tanks in massive bulk and take years to sell out.
Good info
good to know.
That technique worked great, i wasn’t exactly sure, so i did it on my drivers side car window, to see what tempered looked like, it’s very obvious, thanks for the link john, great info.
