\i went there today after getting a super sweet ora hawkins from The frazer zoo. I was shocked at how large the place really was. i will say that they have the largest dry good section i have ever seen.
Corals
the top down tanks looked cool but they didnt have enough light and i didnt really like the idea of a moving halid.
it was hard to see the prices on stuff and there wasnt really enough flow.
The hawkins i bought earlier at tfa was 60$ compaired to the 80 and mine was about twice the size.
they also have 2 larger “show” tanks on the left side. there were alot of rtning corals and the tanks were filled with micro bubbles.
thought they did have some nice corals they were over priced and on the small side.
Fish
they have the largest selection i have ever seen but there were so many dead fish i dont think i would buy one.
dry goods
i noticed that they were having a sale on salt. i kno for a fact that charle sell rc for 45$ a bucket. they had it on sale for 49+ tax. not much of a deal if u ask me.
there koralia powerhead price also matched charlies.
Kinda similar thoughts, always seems hit or miss as far as corals. I’ve gone in and seen some awesome corals for good prices, but the last two times it has been high prices and not the best quality corals (one time the ‘frag tank’ was covered in like brown jelly and HA). I also liked the dry section they had MJs a few bucks cheaper than charlie, but hardly worth the drive and I’d rather give the few extra bucks to charlie.
I normally only go to TFP for their spring and fall sales, the last couple years. They have come a long way at keeping their corals healthy. They used to have a dead and dying tank full of … their high priced corals, dead and dying, any coral bit for 5 bucks. i used to buy lots of little live bits from that tank and most i was able to survive. helped my collection. but these days, they have fewer dying off, due to better care in their display and sale tanks, so its mostly empty. dang. i got lots of little frags from there in the past.
Yup they are like the BJs warehouse of tank supplies. but its a long drive, and tax to consider. so i dont go as often as i used to.
