WOW!!!
Absurd.
Pretty amazing tank there John!!!
John what lighting are you running as far as bulbs? I know you have the individual reflectors
kinda of a nice sailfin, sir. last i saw, he was in a bag! lOl
Just rub in why dont you! Geez, the nerve of some guys!
Seriously…amazing tank John! Since ive seen the tank in person i would normally say the pics dont do it justice…but your pics are as amazing as the tank!
Thanks everyone, you too Shawn. :BEER
Bill, i use 3 mh 250w 20k Reeflux bulbs on coralvue ballast and supplement with 2 vho attinics.
I just wanted to share with everyone, trying to get better with my camera. My secret is to just cut a pic out from a reef mag and lay it on black paper and take a photo. Saint:)

Very cool John we have just about the same set up except I don’t have the reflectors yet and I have different bulbs ( my VHO’s are 6 ft not sure how long yours are). I need to look into different bulbs love the look of yours. Same ballasts though they work great!1
how old?..
Hey John -
I went to school for photography years ago. If you ever want to trade some photography lessons let me know.
Not that you really need it - pictures and the tank are both stunning.
Thanks Craig.
Bill I too am using 2-6ft vho’s. My mh bulbs are due for replacement at the end of this month. The reeflux 20k bulbs do not show like other 20k bulbs, they are blue with some white.
Machingband, I assume you mean the tank. It was setup in NY back in jan. 2006, and then broken down and moved to another house in Jul. 2007 and then broken down and moved 300 miles to Salisbury,MD in Sept.2008 and has been here since then. So basically it is four yrs old.
WHOA! That’s a really nice looking reef tank, John. You are doing it right. You know, I think there is something about VHO Actinics that makes the corals glow better. or am i just partial? I don’t know.
I can see, that when i get a bigger tank, i should upgrade also to a calcium reactor. I saw in you old tank picks you have one purring under the hood. I think those really help too for the stonies. Do you add other suplements also? Mag? Trace? vitamins?
impressive tank
Thanks ken and andrew, I agree that the vho’s do make the corals look better. I have just been adding Mag lately due to a drop in the mag level. Having the calcium reactor tweaked in just right helps to maintain proper Alk,Mag and calc levels.
Cool! I have to add a Ca Rx to my wish list for the next tank. The stability makes a nice difference. Yup, Magflake and CaCl salts are easy to add.
You should do a TOTM, that would be one good presentation.
