I know paul uses them somehow, but how do you make/ Buy magnets to put like xenia on the walls of your tank.

i got mine from reefchiefs.com
dunno if they can be made[/quote]
Address not found. I googled and found http://www.reefchief.us/ but they don’t seem to have a store (more of a forum)
there is aqua-mags.com, but while they are bigger, hold more, and work on thicker glass they’re also about $6-7 apiece.
and the other address is just my dyslexia
it’s www.chiefreef.com
sorry
also a DIY discussion

u cant coat neodynium(Sp) or other rare earth magnets in epoxy resin or rubber, epoxy resin being the easiest. there are many stores that sell them already coated and safe for use in reef. u can get two for roughyl 8 dollars. google rare earth magnets and u should turn something up. look for hte ones that say “coated”.
To address the original question… you need a magnet to put xenia on the wall? I can’t keep xenia off my walls, thermometers, heaters, power heads. Trick is having it in the tank with salt water, light, and flow.
For other corals their is the site Paul mentioned or one of our sponsors. TBAquatics http://www.tbaquatics.com/shop/coral-plugs-mounts-5/index-3.html
Yeah, just get the xenia started on the glass, about half way down, it will multiply and climb to the light. then just scrape some off now and then for frags. with a spatula. mine likes to grow on the overflow box and a heater and a maxijet prop mod cover. Easy pickins.
Just go out and buy some Xenia wallpaper lOl
Lol, well my deliema is i dont want it really anymore, but my girlfriend says i cant get rid of it, and i would rather keep her happy. so the wall is a nice place where it can grow out of the way… so how would u guys recommend getting it to grow on wall.
use the magnetic frag plug system. it’ll do its thing.
It really is easy to do. Here is a pic of my wall of xenia.
I used to hate xenia because of its spreading weed like habits. I have grown to appreciate its beauty. Here are a couple of close ups.
For some reason I can’t even seem to give this stuff away…
i have 2 types of zenia on my glass. red sea was just glued to back wall on coraline and pom pom was first grew on my flat tile frag plugs then glued frag plug to glass. plug can be scraped off and reset after the zenia grows across it onto glass.
One way you can help it along is by having coraline or some sort of algae on your wall. If your glass is perfectly clean it is harder for it to attach.
That are great shots, it really looks good on the wall. The blue highlights in it are cool.
