I have a 48’’ VHO light and icecap ballast but now I want to replace the bulbs to 36’’ long, can I be able to used the same endcap and the ballast to run the 36’’ bulbs? :think)
Yes you should be able to. Depending on which ballast. If it’s a 660 should not be a problem.
Your fine doing that
thank for the help guys, also you guys know any local pet shop that sale VHO bulbs?
Go see Charlie at DPA . Gave me a great deal on bulbs. Got my 6 foot VHO atinics for $29.99 each. 4 Foots I think were under $25.00 maybe even under $20.00 can’t remember. Got them with in a week
Yeah, i think im going to order a few VHO s from DPA tomorrow too. i need a few replacements. I like VHOs, the URI or is now UVL acts seem to make the corals light up the best. Yup your Icecap ballast should run a wide variety of lamp configurations. you can check under their wiring diagrams.

I spose you could even drive over and visit them, and if you are lucky maybe even chat with Anthony Calfo about lighting. He works with them these days. Nice guy. Lots of info on reefing lighting.
the 430 is good up to 14 or 16 foot of lights i think… ask ice cap for sure… i use two 6 foot VHO’s on my 220 with a ice cap 430 ballast. you can use anything at or below the Max length/wattage of bulbs for the ballast you are using
