violent elephant ear mushrooms?

So 2 months ago my 14 inch mushroom ate a large size banded coral shrimp. I thought it was just a fluke. No pun intended. But today i found my 7 inch mushroom eating my diamond side goby!! Seriously. What gives? Anyone else ever seen this? How can a mushroom move fast enough to catch this things?

Pics?

While I have seen large mushroons eat meaty food, Ive never seen one catch live food.

Is there a chance you’ve got yourself a carpet anemone?

I have heard of elephant ears eating fish.

I have a pic of the shrimps butt hanging out but not the fish

That is definitely an elephant ear shrooms. When I had one many moon ago, it wouldn’t eat anything. Maybe I had one that was feeding on zooxanthellae, since it was living high in the tank with lots of lights. I also have heard that it does eat meaty food. Especially those hairy looking ones.

I just dont understand how it can grab a shrimp or fish. I never see it move. Let alone move that fast. Even when i touch it it doesnt move.

These things eat fish!!! See other peoples misfortunes:

It is technically an anemone so it does sting. Small things are way more affected than us. We just feel the stickyness. The sticky traps the fish.
